Senior Manager – Conflicts of Interest & Audit Independence

About the role

PwC is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Conflicts of Interest & Audit Independence function within the Internal Firm Services team in Auckland. You will safeguard the firm’s objectivity, manage complex risk matters, and support high‑profile government client engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Review and advise on complex conflicts of interest, objectivity and independence issues.
• Support risk‑based decision‑making by analysing facts, identifying key issues and recommending next steps.
• Partner with a wide range of stakeholders to provide clear guidance on sensitive or high‑risk matters.
• Apply firm policies, professional standards and practical judgement to ensure consistent, high‑quality outcomes.
• Manage increasing query volume while maintaining quality, pace and attention to detail.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of how objectivity, independence and conflicts are managed across the firm.
• Assist in managing government client portfolio risks.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in risk management, conflicts of interest, independence or advisory services.
• Background in professional services or government environments, especially with complex stakeholder groups.
• Strong critical and lateral thinking, ability to work through ambiguity and provide balanced judgement.
• Excellent communication skills to deliver clear, practical advice and constructive challenge.
