Emergency Medicine Registrar (non‑training)

About the role

Timaru Hospital is looking for two motivated Emergency Medicine Registrars to join its busy Emergency Department in South Canterbury. The role provides hands‑on clinical exposure across a wide range of acute presentations, with direct mentorship from senior consultants.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality patient care in the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with consultants, RMOs, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assume increasing clinical responsibility appropriate to experience.
• Participate in weekly teaching sessions and ongoing education.
• Engage in clinical meetings, case discussions and service‑improvement activities.

Required profile

• Strong, broad‑based clinical skills and sound clinical judgement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development.
