Emergency Medicine Registrar (non‑training)

About the role

Timaru Hospital is looking for two motivated Emergency Medicine Registrars to join its busy Emergency Department. The role provides extensive clinical responsibility, direct mentorship from senior consultants, and a supportive provincial hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality emergency care to a diverse patient population.
• Collaborate with consultants, RMOs, nursing staff and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assume increasing clinical responsibility in line with experience.
• Participate in weekly teaching sessions and ongoing education.
• Engage in clinical meetings, case discussions and service‑improvement activities.
• Contribute to a positive, patient‑focused team culture.

Required profile

• Strong, broad‑based clinical skills and sound clinical judgement.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient‑care communication.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Enthusiasm, adaptability and willingness to take on responsibility.
• Genuine interest in continuous learning and professional development.
