Emergency Medicine Registrar – Timaru Hospital

About the role

We are looking for two motivated Emergency Medicine Registrars to join the Emergency Department at Timaru Hospital in South Canterbury, New Zealand. The position provides a high level of clinical responsibility, direct mentorship from senior consultants and extensive exposure to a wide range of acute presentations in a supportive provincial hospital setting.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality patient care to undifferentiated, trauma and acute medical cases in the Emergency Department.
• Collaborate with consultants, resident medical officers, nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
• Assume increasing clinical responsibility commensurate with experience.
• Participate in weekly teaching sessions, case discussions and service‑improvement meetings.
• Contribute to a positive team culture focused on patient safety and excellence.
