Venue Operations Team Leader – Recreation Centre

About the role

The Recreation Centre – Venue Operations Team Leader will lead the day‑to‑day delivery of sport and recreation facilities at Hiwa, the University of Auckland’s award‑winning hub for health, wellbeing and sport. Reporting to senior sport and recreation management, you will ensure high‑quality service, safety compliance and an excellent experience for members and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership and development for the Operations team, set clear expectations, coach staff, support professional growth and foster an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
• Manage daily facility operations including maintenance, health and safety compliance, asset management, scheduling and event logistics.
• Act as the primary liaison for internal and external stakeholders, uphold exceptional customer service standards and resolve escalated issues.
• Track, analyse and report on key performance indicators and financial resources to ensure optimal use of budgets.
