People & Capability Advisor

About the role

The People & Capability Advisor will join the Council’s People & Capability team to provide practical HR advice and turn workforce data into actionable insights. This role blends people‑focused support with analytical work, offering a great entry point for early‑career HR professionals who enjoy both relationship building and data analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line HR advice to managers on everyday employment matters.
• Support recruitment end‑to‑end, including drafting job descriptions, creating ads, conducting interviews and ensuring a positive candidate experience.
• Draft and review HR documentation with a strong focus on accuracy and quality.
• Extract and analyse data from systems such as Jemini, DataPay and AskYourTeam to produce reports and workforce insights.
• Identify trends, prepare summaries and translate data into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Assist with survey analysis, remuneration reviews and broader people initiatives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by seeking smarter, simpler ways of working.
• Step in wherever needed within the small team to support overall HR service delivery.

Required profile

• Early‑career HR professional who is curious, detail‑oriented and eager to learn.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to spot patterns and explain complex information clearly.
• Comfortable working with both data and people, and enthusiastic about contributing to a collaborative team environment.
