Director – Organisational Culture & Capability

About the role

This senior leadership position will shape the culture and capability of a kaupapa Māori tertiary institution. Reporting to senior executives, you will design and deliver enterprise‑wide people and culture strategies that embed te reo Māori, strengthen leadership, and enhance the employee experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of organisation‑wide culture, capability and engagement strategies.
• Integrate te reo Māori and tikanga into all people practices and learning programmes.
• Advise senior leaders on cultural and capability initiatives, positioning the organisation as an employer of choice.
• Oversee the design and delivery of leadership development, performance, and wellbeing frameworks.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align culture with strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in organisational development, culture, or people functions.
• Proven track record of designing and implementing enterprise‑wide culture and capability strategies.
• Strong strategic thinking, business acumen and ability to influence organisational direction.
• Deep understanding of Māori values, tikanga and the ability to embed them in practice.
• Fluency in te reo Māori (written and spoken) and experience leading bilingual initiatives.
