Manager, Controls Testing (First Line Risk)

About the role

ANZ is seeking a Manager, Controls Testing within its First‑Line Non‑Financial Risk function. You will lead independent control testing across complex banking processes, ensuring that design and operating effectiveness are rigorously assessed and aligned with enterprise risk standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver independent first‑line control testing for complex products, processes and customer journeys.
• Lead higher‑risk, judgement‑based testing activities that meet methodological and regulatory standards.
• Provide senior oversight through quality‑assurance reviews, ensuring consistency, strong judgement and evidence quality.
• Produce high‑quality documentation, workpapers and governance artefacts for audit and regulatory purposes.
• Analyse testing results to identify systemic weaknesses, emerging risks and to influence remediation planning.
• Drive enhancements to testing approaches using data analytics and automation to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Act as a specialist for complex controls (focus area 4.2) and support capability uplift through coaching and peer review.

Required profile

• Proven assurance experience in first, second or third line of defence.
• Ability to test, challenge and influence stakeholders at pace.
• Experience in institutional banking is advantageous.
