Manager – Business Advisory Services (BAS)

About the role

This permanent position based in Takapuna offers a challenging and rewarding career within BDO’s international network. You will work closely with a diverse client base, providing commercial‑driven advice, leading engagements from planning through delivery, and supervising team members.

Key responsibilities

• Identify client business challenges, develop strategic plans and implement sustainable growth solutions.
• Draft high‑quality advice on accounting standards, tax compliance and business management principles.
• Analyse financial reports and management accounts to deliver actionable insights.
• Advise on tax‑effective strategies such as trust income distribution, group structures, FBT, GST, PAYE and indirect taxes.
• Supervise medium to large engagements and review smaller jobs.
• Escalate complex issues appropriately and communicate solutions clearly.
• Motivate, mentor and develop team members to foster a high‑performance culture.

Required profile

• Ideally 5+ years of experience in business advisory within a CA environment.
• Accounting background or working towards a CA qualification.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness, technical capability and analytical thinking.
