About the role

The University of Auckland invites applications for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Water Engineering within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The successful candidate will join a vibrant faculty, delivering high‑quality teaching and leading a research programme in areas such as hydraulics, hydrology, river and coastal engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver research‑informed, industry‑relevant teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Design and update curricula to meet professional accreditation standards.
• Supervise honours, master’s and doctoral research students.
• Develop and maintain a high‑impact research programme that attracts external funding.
• Publish in leading journals, contribute to design standards, and present at conferences.
• Engage with industry, government agencies and technical societies to ensure research relevance.
• Participate in departmental, faculty and university service activities.

Required profile

• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in water engineering.
• Track record of securing research funding and publishing impactful work.
• Experience supervising graduate research students.
• Ability to collaborate with industry and professional bodies.
