Accountant (Part‑time) – Sports Organisation

About the role

Tennis Auckland, the regional sports organisation for tennis in Auckland, is seeking an experienced part‑time Accountant to support the Finance Manager. You will help keep the finance function running smoothly across the organisation and its events, including the ASB Classic.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounts payable and receivable, including daily bank reconciliations.
• Prepare weekly casual payroll and monthly payroll for approval.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and budget reports.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Support managers with Sportlogic adjustments and reconciliations (fees, court hire, coaching).
• Reconcile community grants, support international events, and maintain contracts, risk and policy registers.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and file GST, PAYE, NRWT and WHT returns.
• Contribute ideas to improve finance efficiency and effectiveness.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Solid understanding of accounting processes and internal controls.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• High integrity, discretion and pride in accuracy.
• Interest in tennis or sport administration is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Chartered Accountant (or working towards CA ANZ) preferred.
• Legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
