Senior Full Stack Engineer (Contract, Remote NZ)

About the role

Auror, a New Zealand-founded company helping retailers tackle theft and organised retail crime, is hiring two senior contract full stack engineers for a new domain service in its platform. The work is greenfield: a core capability is being carved out into its own service with its own data model, API and front end. The contract is initially around six months, fully remote within New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a new service in C#/.NET, including its data model, API contracts and integration points with existing systems
• Build a React and TypeScript front end within the established design system and component library, covering dynamic forms, conditional logic, validation, autosave and error handling
• Expose the capability to clients, including the public API
• Develop automated tests across the stack, covering front-end behaviour, API validation, permissions, persistence and integration
• Build in observability and sensible failure recovery from the start
• Break work into safe increments, surface risks and dependencies early, and leave the codebase, patterns and documentation ready for the permanent team

Required profile

• Genuine full stack capability; strong C#/.NET is strongly preferred, and deep React and TypeScript experience
• Ability to work from semi-formed requirements, talking to Product and Design to clarify before building
• Delivery focus: clarifying ambiguous problems and shipping working software within a fixed timeframe
• Testing and reliability mindset, with judgement in how AI-assisted tools are used
• Quick onboarding, independent work and clear communication of technical decisions
