Project Manager – Capital Expansion

About the role

Goodman Fielder is expanding production capability at its Meadow Fresh manufacturing site in Christchurch and is looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead a major capital project. Reporting to the National Project Manager, the role is accountable for end-to-end delivery, from detailed design and procurement through to commissioning and operational handover. It is a fixed-term role of 24 months, with a possible extension depending on project approvals.

Key responsibilities

• Lead capital projects from detailed design and procurement through to commissioning and handover.
• Manage budgets, capital expenditure, cash flow forecasts, schedules and project risks.
• Oversee engineering, design, construction and contractor activities across processing, packaging, automation, utilities and building works.
• Drive contractor, supplier and OEM performance against contractual milestones, KPIs and objectives.
• Lead stakeholder communication and governance, reporting regularly on status, risks and key decisions.
• Ensure compliance with Goodman Fielder engineering standards, Safety in Design principles, statutory requirements and food safety regulations.
• Support commissioning, testing, operational readiness and the transition of assets into production.

Required profile

• Experienced Project Manager with a track record of delivering projects in dairy (preferred) or food manufacturing.
• Engineering qualification (Chemical, Process or Mechanical).
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification highly regarded.

Required skills

• Project organisation, cost estimation and schedule development, including scope of work and technical specifications.
• Hygienic design experience, Safety in Design and HAZOP workshop experience.
• Change management, design management and contract management principles.
• AutoCAD for 2D layouts preferred.
