Project Engineer – Dairy Manufacturing Site

About the role

Goodman Fielder is looking for a Project Engineer to join its Group Engineering team at the Meadow Fresh dairy manufacturing site in Christchurch. The role supports capital upgrade projects aimed at increasing UHT production, and you will be accountable for the end-to-end delivery, technical assurance and acceptance of major plant and process equipment. The position covers the full lifecycle of the assigned equipment scope, from requirements definition and design assurance through procurement support, vendor and contractor technical management, installation oversight, commissioning and final acceptance.

The role is for the duration of Stage 2 capital works, estimated as a 24-month fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strict scope controls to protect project capital cost and schedule, and track KPIs
• Provide regular reports to stakeholders, with written updates and site project meetings
• Support procurement, including tender, bid evaluation, pre-award and award, and contract management through supply, installation and commissioning
• Oversee Scope of Work, Technical Performance Specifications and cost estimation

Required profile

• A qualified Project Engineer, ideally with a few years' experience delivering capital, industrial or automation projects
• An engineering qualification (Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical or Automation) is a must; a Project Management qualification is highly beneficial

Required skills

• Project organization, cost estimation and scheduling
• Familiarity with Scope of Work documents and Technical Performance Specifications
• Experience with AutoCAD for 2D layouts and P&IDs
• Hygienic design and Safety in Design during installation and commissioning is highly advantageous
