Paving Supervisor – On‑site Team Leader

About the role

The Paving Supervisor will lead on‑site paving operations for asphalt and chip‑seal projects in Tauranga. This full‑time position involves coordinating crews, equipment and materials to deliver safe, on‑time and high‑quality surfacing work.

Key responsibilities

• Review project plans and specifications and develop daily work schedules.
• Assign tasks, supervise crews and oversee equipment use throughout the job.
• Monitor progress to ensure smooth finishes, correct levels and compliance with quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections, enforce health‑and‑safety procedures and lead toolbox talks.
• Communicate with project managers, clients and subcontractors on timelines, constraints and any issues.
• Support cost control by tracking quantities, documenting work completed and suggesting workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising paving or civil‑construction crews.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications and job instructions.
• Strong commitment to health and safety and experience conducting site inspections.
• Effective communication and leadership skills for directing diverse teams.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
