People and Safety Manager

About the role

MAP Projects is seeking a senior‑level People and Safety Manager to shape the culture and safety performance of its fast‑growing civil construction business. You will lead people, safety and culture across award‑winning projects throughout New Zealand and the Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Provide senior leadership to develop and embed a strong safety culture across all sites.
• Oversee health, safety and environmental compliance for award‑winning civil projects.
• Lead people initiatives, including talent development, engagement and performance management.
• Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety standards into daily operations.
• Represent the company in safety audits, client meetings and industry forums.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in civil construction or related infrastructure sectors.
• Demonstrated track record of improving safety performance and culture.
• Strong understanding of New Zealand and Pacific construction environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
