Orthopaedic Surgical Registrar – Wellington Region

About the role

We are seeking permanent Surgical Registrar candidates with a focus on Orthopaedics for the Wellington Region. The position starts as soon as possible (or 3 August 2026) and involves rotating across Wellington, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa (Masterton) hospitals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide orthopaedic surgical care and assist in a range of other surgical runs (general, vascular, paediatric, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, urology, otolaryngology, plastics).
• Participate in endovascular procedures and kidney transplant assistance.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Engage in teaching activities for junior staff and medical students.
• Adapt to rotational schedules across multiple sites, including potential rural attachments.

Required profile

• PGY3/F3 level or higher at commencement.
• Eligibility for general or provisional registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• NZ or Australian citizenship/residency, or appropriate work visa.
• Commitment to work onsite in the Wellington health region.
