Clinical Nurse Coach – Operating Theatres (0.6 FTE)

About the role

We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Coach to join our operating theatre team on a 0.6 FTE basis. Working in a super‑numerary capacity, you will support nurses in delivering safe, high‑quality surgical care while fostering a learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate structured clinical induction for new staff in collaboration with preceptors and theatre managers.
• Provide one‑to‑one coaching and learning support to develop confidence and competence across all theatre nursing functions.
• Deliver hands‑on, just‑in‑time guidance on clinical skills and procedures.
• Coordinate mandatory training, competency certification and train‑the‑trainer sessions.
• Promote evidence‑based practice and model excellent theatre nursing during direct patient care.

Required profile

• Current registration and an annual practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
• Demonstrated experience in operating theatre nursing.
• Ability to work rostered and rotating shifts.

Required skills

• Clinical coaching and mentorship.
• Competency assessment and training delivery.
• Knowledge of operating theatre procedures and safety standards.
