Financial Planning Manager – Corporate Finance

About the role
Air New Zealand is seeking a Financial Planning Manager to shape the airline’s long‑term financial outlook. You will work within Corporate Finance to translate strategic assumptions into actionable financial plans that support sustainable growth and resilience.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the finance contribution to the airline’s 5‑Year Plan, turning strategic assumptions and industry trends into a coherent financial outlook.
- Develop and enhance integrated financial models for planning, valuation, capital management, funding, treasury and investment decisions.
- Analyse the financial impact of network, fleet, commercial and strategic initiatives on earnings, cash flow, liquidity and balance‑sheet performance.
- Provide robust business‑case analysis, including ROI, NPV, cash‑flow and risk assessment, to support investment governance.
- Partner with senior leaders to challenge assumptions, evaluate trade‑offs and improve investment proposals.
- Support capital‑management and funding activities through scenario modelling and balance‑sheet assessments.
- Deliver clear insights and recommendations to senior management to influence strategic decisions.
Required profile
- Significant experience in corporate finance, financial planning, investment analysis, transaction advisory, consulting, banking or a related discipline.
- Advanced financial‑modelling skills with the ability to build and interpret complex scenarios.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to link financial outcomes with operational and strategic drivers.
- Proven experience evaluating business cases, investment opportunities and capital‑allocation decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders and presenting complex information clearly.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and balancing multiple priorities.
- High integrity, curiosity and a collaborative problem‑solving approach.
- Relevant tertiary qualification.
