Financial Control Lead (Fixed-Term, 12-Month Parental Leave)

About the role

The Financial Control Lead will be the primary finance contact for the New Zealand region, working within a global finance operations team. This fixed‑term position (12‑month parental leave cover) focuses on delivering high‑quality financial reporting, analysis and control while partnering with senior management and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Review month‑end results, including provisions, balance‑sheet accounts and P&L performance.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to senior management and board members.
• Lead local technical accounting research and develop accounting positions.
• Support external audit engagements and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting and implement robust controls within a new ERP system.
• Mentor and lead a team of finance professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

Required profile

• CA qualification with solid experience in financial accounting or auditing, preferably from a professional services firm or large multinational.
• Strong analytical mindset and curiosity to understand underlying business drivers.
• Proven ability to influence and build positive partnerships across functions.
• Leadership experience, including managing remote or geographically dispersed teams.

Required skills

• Technical accounting knowledge and ability to interpret accounting standards.
• Experience with ERP implementation or migration.
• Financial reporting and analysis expertise.
• Audit coordination and compliance management.
