Accountant/Consultant – Business Advisory (Rotorua)

About the role

Deloitte’s Business Advisory Services team in Rotorua is seeking an Accountant/Consultant to join a close‑knit practice that supports New Zealand businesses, including Māori clients. You will work in an advisory capacity, helping clients navigate accounting, tax and strategic challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Provide advice on advisory and tax matters, including transaction work, business operations and strategy.
• Prepare financial statements, income tax returns and GST returns for clients.
• Develop management accounts, forecasts, budgets and other performance metrics on a monthly basis.
• Collect and analyse data from multiple sources to generate actionable insights.
• Draft and deliver client deliverables under senior leadership guidance.
• Build and maintain relationships with key client contacts and broader market stakeholders.

Required profile

• 2+ years of relevant experience, CA qualified or in the final stages of qualification.
• Strong technical accounting capability and a desire to work in a business advisory capacity.
• Proven ability to manage tax obligations throughout the year.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
