Senior Cybersecurity Architect

About the role

DEFEND is looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Architect in Auckland to help customers navigate complex cybersecurity challenges, develop strategic roadmaps and architect secure solutions. The role leads complex security engagements end-to-end, acts as a trusted advisor and thought leader for customers, and is a recognised security subject matter expert for both customers and colleagues.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and design of enterprise security solutions across on-premises and multi-cloud environments, aligned with security, scalability, resilience and business goals.
• Lead security engagements from business requirements and strategy through architecture, design, governance and delivery.
• Own high-level and detailed designs, concept analysis, reference architectures, security patterns and operating models.
• Act as a trusted advisor, giving strategic cybersecurity guidance and shaping customers' cyber resilience journeys.
• Design and optimise security capabilities across cloud, SaaS, hybrid and enterprise environments, including monitoring, detection, governance and data protection.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the DEFEND team.

Required profile

• 10+ years as a Cybersecurity Architect with a proven track record of leading complex engagements.
• Strong customer-facing consulting experience, acting as a trusted advisor to technical and executive audiences.
• Outcomes-focused, able to turn business requirements into secure, scalable solutions.
• Experience assessing and mitigating cyber threats and advising on secure adoption of new technologies.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines, and to mentor others.

Required skills

• Hybrid and multi-cloud security, including Microsoft Azure, AWS and GCP, and IaaS, PaaS and SaaS risk management.
• Salesforce, SAP and other enterprise SaaS platforms.
• SIEM, SOAR, SOC operating models and observability platforms.
• Logging, monitoring, alerting, secrets management, certificate lifecycle management and security frameworks.
• Data protection, classification, labelling and information governance.
• Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Proofpoint, Cloudflare, Vercel and edge/cloud security architectures.
• PCI DSS and other compliance frameworks.
