Financial Accountant – NZ Pacific Business

About the role

GHD is looking for a highly skilled and detail‑focused Financial Accountant to join its Centre of Excellence Controllership team. The role supports the New Zealand Pacific business across Auckland and Wellington, delivering accurate financial reporting, statutory accounting, tax compliance, cash‑flow management and payroll information.

Key responsibilities

• Review and post monthly journal entries for the NZ Pacific business.
• Maintain the general ledger, prepare reconciliations and working papers.
• Manage statutory accounting, group reporting packages, local financial statements and audit‑related activities.
• Prepare cash‑flow forecasts, process ad‑hoc bank payments and manage payroll‑related journals and provisions.
• Partner with the tax team on New Zealand tax compliance matters.
• Provide timely financial information to Finance and business stakeholders to support decision‑making.
• Contribute to process improvements, standardisation and implementation of global finance policies.
• Maintain strong documentation, control discipline and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Advanced knowledge of general and statutory accounting.
• Strong understanding of New Zealand tax obligations and local compliance requirements.
• Detail‑oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with finance and operational stakeholders.
• Commitment to professional ethics, confidentiality and high‑quality financial outcomes.
