Payments Processing Manager – Institutional Operations

About the role

As the Manager of Payment Processing within ANZ’s Institutional Operations, you will lead the team that handles domestic high‑value and international payments, ensuring accurate and efficient processing in line with regulatory, risk and financial‑crime standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high‑performing team responsible for SWIFT and high‑value payment processing.
• Oversee transaction processing, ensuring accuracy, efficiency and compliance with regulatory and risk requirements.
• Manage payment exceptions, investigations and customer enquiries, escalating when necessary.
• Drive automation, AI adoption and process improvements to increase straight‑through processing.
• Provide operational oversight across on‑shore and off‑shore teams, monitoring performance, resilience and workload.
• Report on service performance, operational risks and control outcomes to stakeholders.
• Partner with Technology, Risk, Financial Crime and Operations to deliver service excellence and strategic change.

Required profile

• Proven experience in payment operations, transaction processing and clearing‑settlement environments.
• Strong knowledge of domestic and international payments, SWIFT, investigations and exception management.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high‑performing teams and drive operational excellence.
• Understanding of operational risk, financial crime, governance, controls and compliance.
• Excellent problem‑solving, stakeholder management and communication skills.
