Financial Accountant

About the role

AA Insurance is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to own the month‑end process and deliver high‑quality financial reporting. You will ensure accurate, timely reporting, maintain strong controls, and support tax and statutory obligations while driving continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and post accurate month‑end journals and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial results.
• Prepare and file tax returns (GST, FBT, income tax, unclaimed money) and statistical/regulatory returns.
• Assist with statutory financial statements and year‑end audit deliverables.
• Maintain asset and lease registers and ensure data integrity.
• Identify and implement process improvements and strengthen financial controls.
• Contribute to ad‑hoc finance projects and initiatives.

Required profile

• Approximately 4+ years of experience in corporate or professional‑services accounting.
• Relevant tertiary qualification; progress toward or completion of CA/CPA preferred.
• Strong background in reconciliations, tax returns, and financial reporting/audit processes.
• High attention to detail with a structured, organised work approach.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with business stakeholders.
• Proactive, problem‑solving mindset focused on continuous improvement.
