Director of Accounting, Financial Operations

About the role

Join a leading global technology company as the Director of Accounting, Financial Operations, based in a brand‑new Auckland CBD office. Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead a high‑performing Accounting Operations team and partner with senior leaders across New Zealand and the United States to support the Group’s growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operational accounting processes for Accounts Payable, Billing/AR, and Payroll, driving efficiency through technology and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Human Resources to ensure staff benefits accuracy, compliance, and lead the annual US 401(k) audit.
• Maintain high‑quality control environments for operational accounting functions, including management accounting and reporting systems.
• Support the monthly close, Board and lender reporting, and the annual audit by coordinating AR, AP, and Payroll testing.
• Provide data‑driven financial advice on management decisions and support Group forecasting and budgeting, focusing on operating expenses.
• Collaborate with the Director of Accounting & Reporting and Group Controller on strategic finance initiatives, digital finance transformation, and process automation.

Required profile

• Big Four‑trained professional with strong people‑leadership experience in global accounting operations.
• Extensive experience in financial operations within a large, complex commercial environment.
• Proven track record of delivering efficiency, best practices, and world‑class financial control.
• Strategically minded accounting leader with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
