Principal Engineer – Site Reliability & Integrated Testing

About the role

ASB is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and ownership of its end‑to‑end integrated testing environment. This senior position blends hands‑on architecture with strategic leadership, guiding multiple squads and ensuring reliable, automated delivery of services.

Key responsibilities

• Engage regularly with stakeholders to analyse and refine technical requirements.
• Design and implement both cloud (Azure) and on‑premise environments, delivering end‑to‑end solutions.
• Collaborate with service and application squads to host and integrate their workloads.
• Lead test‑data creation, data masking, and ensure seamless integration across services.
• Automate infrastructure deployments using Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools (Terraform, BICEP) and support CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain overall technical ownership of the integrated testing environment.
• Drive process improvements and mentor team members.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with private‑cloud architecture, infrastructure management, and on‑prem environments.
• Strong background in Azure, CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Octopus), and source control (Git, GHES).
• Proficiency in Infrastructure‑as‑Code (Terraform, BICEP) and automation/orchestration tools.
• Experience with relational and non‑relational databases, test data creation, and data masking.
• Ability to build Kibana dashboards and alerts for monitoring.
• Hands‑on experience working in Agile and DevOps frameworks.
