About the role
The University of Otago is seeking an Administrator to support students and staff within the Department of Surgery and Critical Care or the Department of Nursing on the Christchurch campus. This fixed‑term position involves a mix of student services, clinical placement coordination, and administrative finance tasks, all delivered in a dynamic university environment.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate student timetables, examinations and results.
- Arrange and monitor clinical placement schedules with internal and external partners.
- Handle correspondence, maintain confidential records and provide pastoral support to students.
- Update university databases, generate reports and perform transactional finance duties.
- Collaborate with faculty staff to ensure smooth operational processes.
Required profile
- Proven experience in a fast‑paced, complex administrative setting.
- Strong customer‑service orientation and excellent communication skills.
- Adaptable, flexible and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Critical thinker with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Understanding of cultural safety, Te Ao Māori, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Pasifika values.
Required skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
