Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical components for ZURU House, our fully integrated modular prefabricated housing system. You will work across global teams to take concepts through to compliant, manufacture‑ready products.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical components for ZURU House using SolidWorks, covering structural, MEP and façade categories.
• Develop full design cycles from concept to manufacturing‑ready outputs.
• Build and test in‑house prototypes, document results and iterate across multiple test cycles.
• Map design changes to system impacts and coordinate with owners of adjacent products.
• Collaborate with compliance specialists to ensure designs meet building codes and standards for each market.
• Coordinate with manufacturing in China, industrial design in Los Angeles, engineering in New Zealand and software teams in Italy.
• Resolve manufacturing challenges and support product launch, shipping, installation and long‑term use.

Required profile

• Proven experience in mechanical engineering for building or modular construction.
• Ability to take ownership of a product from concept through compliance and delivery.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills across multiple time zones.
• Hands‑on approach to prototyping, testing and iterative design.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (CAD) for mechanical design.
