Project Engineer – Capital Programme Delivery

About the role

Vector is seeking a Project Engineer to join its Capital Programme Delivery team, supporting the delivery of capital investment across Auckland’s electricity network. This hands‑on position blends technical engineering expertise with real‑world project delivery, giving you ownership of design and construction phases.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the technical lead on project teams, coordinating design activities with internal engineers and external consultants.
• Review and validate engineering outputs, ensuring they meet Vector and industry standards.
• Translate approved designs into construction documentation and oversee their implementation on‑site.
• Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and compliance verification throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain technical assurance, supporting project managers with risk identification and mitigation.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects, interacting with a wide range of stakeholders across the business and delivery ecosystem.

Required profile

• Qualified engineer with a Bachelor of Engineering and a strong electrical engineering foundation.
• 3–5 years of relevant project engineering experience, preferably in electricity distribution or the broader energy sector.
• Proven exposure to design review, validation, and delivery of infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work collaboratively with design partners, project managers, and construction teams.
