Senior Manager Governance & Framework

About the role

The Senior Manager, Governance & Framework will lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of non‑financial risk (NFR) governance across ANZ’s New Zealand division. Reporting to senior risk leaders, you will ensure that risk frameworks, appetite statements and escalation processes align with Group standards, regulatory expectations and the division’s risk appetite.

Key responsibilities

• Design, embed and continuously improve NFR governance frameworks, forums and decision‑making structures.
• Oversee divisional risk appetite statements, risk taxonomy alignment and related governance processes.
• Aggregate and synthesize risk, control and assurance insights from business units, Centres of Excellence and Controls Testing.
• Coordinate risk assessment processes and monitor material risks against the division’s risk appetite.
• Provide high‑quality, decision‑ready insights to senior leadership and governance committees.
• Support business unit risk spokes, drive standardisation and facilitate workflow improvements.
• Act as a trusted Line 1 risk partner to senior leaders, promoting clear ownership and accountability.
• Coach and develop members of the governance and reporting team.

Required profile

• Significant experience in risk governance, preferably within banking or financial services.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and Group risk standards.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of translating complex risk information into actionable insights.
• Ability to work collaboratively across business lines, risk functions and line‑2 partners.
