Litigation Solicitor (Judge’s Clerk) – Commercial Law

About the role

We are seeking a recent or current judge’s clerk to join our Litigation team as a Solicitor from early 2027. The role offers the chance to work on complex, high‑value commercial disputes for listed entities and prominent clients across New Zealand courts.

Key responsibilities

• Handle a broad range of commercial litigation matters, including financial services, insolvency, property, class actions, construction, company, judicial review and IP disputes.
• Support high‑value matters for listed entities and prominent clients from advisory and ADR stages through to court proceedings.
• Prepare and assist with cases before the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.
• Conduct legal research, draft documents and analyse issues to inform case strategy.
• Collaborate closely with partners and senior lawyers, contributing to a high‑performing team environment.
• Develop litigation and advocacy skills through hands‑on experience and mentoring.

Required profile

• Current or recent judge’s clerk with strong academic results.
• Excellent legal research, drafting and analytical abilities.
• Genuine interest in commercial litigation and dispute resolution.
• Strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
• Proactive, team‑oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
