Senior Commercial Counsel – Legal Commercial Team

About the role

Marsh Group is looking for an experienced senior commercial lawyer to join its Legal Commercial team supporting Marsh and Mercer across Australia and New Zealand. The role offers a hybrid work model with three days per week in the office and involves a mix of commercial negotiations, regulatory advice, and strategic projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiation, drafting and review of complex commercial agreements for multiple product lines and brands.
• Provide timely, solution‑focused advice to Sales, Procurement, Vendor Management and Regulatory Compliance teams.
• Monitor and interpret new laws and regulations, identifying exposure and recommending mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate on cross‑border matters with overseas offices to support regional and global initiatives.
• Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the development of templates, playbooks and training materials.

Required profile

• Admitted to practice in Australia with a current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one).
• At least 8 years post‑qualification experience as a commercial lawyer, in‑house or private practice.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably insurance or financial services.
