Court Security Manager

About the role

The Ministry of Justice is seeking a Court Security Manager to lead a team of up to 12 security officers across Invercargill and Queenstown courts. You will ensure a safe environment for the public and staff while supporting the delivery of justice.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coach and mentor security officers to reach their full potential.
• Oversee day‑to‑day operations in a complex security environment.
• Identify and manage operational risks, making swift, confident decisions.
• Build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including NZ Police, Corrections and Te Oranga Tamariki.
• Collaborate with external agencies to maintain safe court operations.
• Attend a three‑week residential training course in Wellington within three months of start.

Required profile

• Strong leadership capabilities.
• Customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to de‑escalate conflict and engage in full‑contact officer safety techniques.
• Physically fit and able to perform security duties.
• Full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence.

• Confidence in using technology for security operations.
