Contract Test Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a sharp, detail‑driven Test Engineer to join an agile, cross‑functional delivery squad working on an in‑flight project for a well‑known New Zealand client. This is a hands‑on manual functional testing position based in Wellington, with a hybrid work model.

Key responsibilities

• Own the testing effort within your stream – write and execute test cases, perform exploratory and regression testing, and validate new features against acceptance criteria.
• Raise clear, reproducible defects and collaborate with the delivery team to triage issues.
• Contribute to test planning, coverage decisions, and sprint ceremonies, bringing a quality lens to every discussion.
• Manage test evidence and results to support release confidence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in manual functional testing of web or integrated systems.
• Strong understanding of test design techniques and familiarity with defect and test management tools.
• Comfortable working in agile environments and adapting to shifting priorities.
• Effective communication across time zones and with clients, with a proactive, ownership‑driven attitude.
