Business Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking a self‑driven Business Development Manager to lead new‑business generation for a leading New Zealand metal‑fabrication manufacturer. Based on the Auckland fringe with easy motorway access, you will act as the primary "hunter" for growth across the North Island, supported by a dedicated team of Sales Engineers and a Head of Commercial.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prospect and secure new customers across major North Island centres.
• Develop and execute strategic networking, sourcing and positioning activities to build a robust sales pipeline.
• Collaborate with design, pricing and manufacturing teams to craft tailored solutions that meet client needs.
• Maintain clear communication between project management, manufacturing, and sales teams to ensure seamless delivery.
• Travel to key locations once or twice a month to meet prospects and nurture relationships.

Required profile

• Proven track record in business development or sales within industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand design, pricing and manufacturing processes.
• Professional, polished demeanor capable of engaging businesses of all sizes.
• High energy, self‑motivation and a results‑oriented mindset.

Required skills

• Experience with B2B sales cycles and pipeline management.
• Ability to translate technical specifications into commercial proposals.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
