Android Developer

About the role

Join Hnry’s growing engineering team as an Android Developer. You will work closely with the mobile Principal Engineer and other engineers to shape the technical direction of our Android app and help deliver a seamless experience across both of our mobile applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a modern, scalable platform for future mobile development at Hnry.
• Engage with customers and internal stakeholders to identify problems and propose solutions.
• Maintain and enhance existing user‑facing features, ensuring consistency across mobile and web.
• Champion best practices for robust, reliable software and mentor teammates.
• Deliver functionality from concept through production release and post‑release maintenance.
• Write and improve automated tests, increase test coverage, and conduct detailed code reviews.
• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and the wider Hnry team.
• Contribute to iOS app development when needed, with learning support provided.

Required profile

• At least four years of experience building Android applications.
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Curious mindset, empathy for end users, and ability to break down complex problems.

Required skills

• Kotlin and Android SDK.
• CI/CD pipeline management.
• Version control with GitHub.
• Automated testing and test‑coverage practices.
• Use of distributed development tools such as Slack.
