Adventure Guide – Private Tours in Wanaka

About the role

NewZeal is seeking a passionate Adventure Guide to lead private travel experiences for families and small groups in the Wanaka region. You will create safe, memorable journeys that showcase New Zealand’s spectacular landscapes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead private adventure activities such as hiking, kayaking and paddle‑boarding.
• Ensure the safety of guests by following wilderness safety procedures and maintaining equipment.
• Coordinate and customise travel itineraries based on client preferences.
• Navigate diverse terrains and provide in‑depth information about geography, culture and natural features.
• Foster meaningful connections with clients to enhance their overall experience.

Required profile

• Proficiency in leading outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, paddle‑boarding).
• Strong communication, interpersonal and customer‑service skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of New Zealand geography, cultural landmarks and wilderness safety.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Physical fitness to handle challenging outdoor environments.
• First Aid certification or equivalent safety training (highly desirable).
• Previous experience as a tour guide or in adventure tourism is a plus.
• Passion for nature, sustainability practices and flexibility to adapt to variable conditions.
