Accounting Team Leader

About the role

Join a leading NZX‑listed real‑estate group as the Accounting Team Leader, overseeing month‑end close, financial analysis and compliance for a diverse property portfolio. You will work closely with finance and non‑finance stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and drive continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month‑end closing process and ensure timely, accurate financial statements.
• Perform monthly variance analysis in partnership with Property and Facilities Managers.
• Prepare IFRS adjustments and support treasury reporting, including cash‑flow forecasting.
• Prepare and file GST returns and assist with broader IRD compliance.
• Support the external audit process and drive process‑improvement initiatives.
• Lead, mentor and develop a small team of two accountants.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA, or equivalent) or working towards qualification.
• Multiple years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in property or real‑estate.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role.
• Strong communication skills and ability to engage across finance and non‑finance stakeholders.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
