Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Controller to lead the day‑to‑day financial operations of multiple properties within the CP Hotels portfolio across New Zealand. You will ensure profitability, compliance and strategic insight for a diverse range of hotel brands.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily financial activities for designated hotels, maximising portfolio profit.
• Ensure all company and regulatory deadlines are met and maintain the internal audit framework, policies, procedures and systems.
• Collaborate closely with Portfolio General Manager, Hotel GMs, Portfolio Director of Finance and owners.
• Prepare annual budgets, monthly forecasts and provide equal input from all department heads.
• Stay current with legislation and compliance requirements.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, banks and insurers.
• Mentor and develop the finance team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Assistant/Accountant roles.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce.
• CA or CPA qualification, or an equivalent credential.
• Minimum three years of experience in a similar hospitality finance role.
• Experience in a multi‑hotel finance environment is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles, statutory responsibilities and reporting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Opera, POS and other accounting‑related systems.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
