Traffic Management Designer – New Zealand

About the role

Downer is looking for a Traffic Management (TTM) Designer to join its high‑performing team and deliver innovative traffic solutions across New Zealand. You will be responsible for creating detailed Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) that keep workers and the public safe while supporting the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and submit accurate, compliant TMPs using tools such as RapidPlan.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Conduct risk assessments and devise effective traffic control strategies.
• Maintain TMP documentation, approvals and keep plans up‑to‑date.
• Support delivery teams to ensure TMPs are executed safely and effectively.
• Promote a strong safety culture aligned with Zero Harm principles.

Required profile

• TMP Planning Warrant (or equivalent Unit Standards).
• STMS A/B/C‑NP Warrants (or equivalent Unit Standards).
• Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment certification (or equivalent).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate.
• Problem‑solver with a performance mindset and a commitment to safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Traffic Management Design Software (e.g., RapidPlan, RapidPath, AutoCAD).
• Strong knowledge of CoPTTM, NZGTTM and HSWA regulations.
