Thermal Machine Operator

About the role

The Thermal Machine Operator is responsible for the daily operation of an ALURO thermal break machine within an aluminium production environment. You will ensure that thermally broken products are produced, inspected and packed to the highest quality standards while supporting safe and efficient plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the ALURO thermal break machine – picking, checking, knurling, zipping and packing products into skips.
• Perform QA checks on finished items and pack dual‑colour orders into cases for dispatch to APL customers.
• Collaborate with the Store Manager, Thermal/Anodising team and ALURO technician to learn start‑up, shut‑down, tool changes and quality procedures.
• Report breakdowns or out‑of‑spec products immediately to minimise downtime.
• QA inspect and pack anodised products using an automated sorting table and spiral‑wrap machine.
• Follow all health‑and‑safety protocols, wear required PPE and report hazards or incidents promptly.
• Undertake additional tasks as agreed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in the aluminium industry, preferably with thermally broken products.
• Familiarity with high‑volume thermal zipping machines (ALURO preferred).
• Mechanical aptitude, physical fitness and the ability to work flexible hours, including possible afternoon shifts.
• Strong communication skills, a customer‑service mindset and a commitment to quality.
• Experience or willingness to obtain certification for operating overhead cranes (3800 crane preferred).
