Support Worker - Wake Over Shift (Full-Time)

About the role

HealthCare NZ is seeking an experienced Support Worker to provide overnight support for a Medically Fragile Child client in Kapuka. The roster covers weeks 1 and 2, nine hours of wake-over each night from 10 PM to 7 AM, Monday to Thursday. The position is permanent and full-time.

Key responsibilities

• Follow the client's care plan and provide practical and emotional support so they can live as independently as possible at home and in the community.
• Stay awake throughout the night shift while using equipment such as the AIRVO2, Swedish nose, suction machine, pulse oximeter and feed pump.
• Provide tracheostomy suctioning (or learn it), oral suctioning, ostomy care, oxygen therapy, management of PEGs, respiratory support and general tracheostomy care.

Required profile

• Level 3 or 4 qualification or equivalent experience.
• Previous healthcare or caregiving experience is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills.
• A desire to help and support others.
• Right to work in New Zealand and willingness to undergo police vetting and additional checks.
• Full New Zealand driver's licence and own reliable transport.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the listed respiratory and suctioning equipment.
• Child CPR training before starting shifts.
