Software Engineer – Fixed Term (12 months)

About the role

Ryman Healthcare is seeking a Software Engineer to join its high‑performing team in Christchurch on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract covering parental leave. You will work across a variety of software stacks, develop with the latest Microsoft cloud technology, and contribute to a collaborative agile squad.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the adoption and implementation of agile methodologies across the software development lifecycle to optimise team productivity and product delivery.
• Partner with delivery leads to shape and clarify feature requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Translate technical designs into clear development tasks and lead their implementation.
• Develop, enhance and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Design and develop new features and products while ensuring high code quality.
• Maintain and improve existing systems, diagnosing, resolving and preventing software defects.
• Review and improve codebases to enhance performance and quality.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot and other AI‑powered tools to accelerate development workflows.

Required profile

• Proven experience working with Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure) and modern software stacks.
• Ability to collaborate with delivery leads to shape feature requirements and align with business goals.
• Strong problem‑solving skills to diagnose, resolve and prevent software defects.
