Software Development Manager (Mobile)

About the role

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead our Mobile Engineering team in Auckland. You will own the performance and growth of a high‑performing engineering group, fostering resilience, continuous delivery, and strong stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Hire, onboard, train and coach a team of mobile engineers, providing regular feedback, 1:1s, peer programming and development plans.
• Enable the team to deliver code in a high‑trust, continuous‑delivery environment, maintaining a steady cadence and running demos, retrospectives and blameless incident reviews.
• Evaluate and evolve the mobile application’s technical architecture, adopting industry trends.
• Collaborate closely with the team to manage development initiatives, answer technical questions and sign off on work results.
• Report to the Director of Software Development and work with Product Managers, Designers, Marketing Managers and Support Specialists.
• Lead by example with hands‑on coding in Java, Golang or Kotlin and contribute to broader organisational goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mobile development teams through successful software projects.
• Strong technical leadership on complex problem solving.
• Solid understanding of Agile software development practices.
• Experience creating processes for bug fixing and performance improvement.
• Track record of learning from both successes and failures.
• Adaptable, able to evolve processes as the company grows.
• Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Industry experience helpful but not mandatory; full mobile development lifecycle knowledge beneficial.
