Senior Project Manager, Baggage Handling Systems

About the role

BNP Associates, Inc., a global air transportation consulting and engineering firm founded in 1971, is looking for a Senior Project Manager for its Auckland, New Zealand office. The Senior Project Manager acts as the main liaison between clients, contractors and BNP, and is a subject matter expert who helps keep projects on schedule, on budget and in line with the agreed design plans. The role also involves mentoring less experienced project managers, project engineers and designers.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary liaison and subject matter expert for clients and contractors
• Coordinate with designers, project engineers, directors and executives to assign staff and produce reports, specifications, drawing packages and other submittals
• Author reports and specifications and explain them technically
• Manage baggage handling requirements, analytics and design development
• Manage on-site surveys, inspections, installations and equipment tests, plus punch list resolution and start-up assistance
• Manage project budgets and schedules, and field RFI requests
• Review simulation results and give feedback to designers and project engineers
• Mentor project managers, project engineers and designers

Required profile

• Legally authorized to work in New Zealand; criminal background check and security screening required
• Ideally more than five years' experience with baggage handling systems or warehousing
• At least five years' project management experience (preferably in BHS)
• Management and team-building experience with large design and development groups
• Bachelor's degree in industrial, mechanical or electrical engineering, aviation management or airport planning; advanced degree or similar field experience
• PMP, EIT or PE certification preferred but not required

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Experience with project logistics, timelines and budgets
• Experience conducting field surveys, inspections and equipment tests
• Beneficial: Revit, AutoCAD, Sim 3D or similar design software
