Senior Product Designer - AI Products
partly.com · Auckland
Job description
About the role
Partly builds AI infrastructure for repairing things, starting with the automotive market. Its product teams are led by Product Leads and a global design team focuses on the design system, coherence across products and the quality of the experience for repairers and suppliers. This is a senior design role for someone with hands-on experience with AI surfaces and experiences, based in Auckland, Christchurch, London or Austin.
Key responsibilities
- Own the design system: components, patterns, rules and guidance that read correctly to engineers and coding agents.
- Shape and ship patterns for agentic and generative experiences, including natural language interfaces and generated UI.
- Define how the product behaves when uncertain, how it shows its work and how users correct it.
- Give the product its character: tone, voice and personality across all surfaces.
- Hold the bar across products, measure adoption and quality, and fix inconsistencies at the source.
- Build working prototypes with AI tools inside the design system and test them on real data.
- Pair with Product Engineers and their teams, reviewing UI produced by coding agents.
- Run research with customers in workshops, on the phone and in the product.
- Write clear principles and rules that engineers and models can follow.
Required profile
- Senior experience, typically 5+ years designing complex software, with evidence of projects that changed user behaviour.
- Experience designing agentic experiences, with real decisions on what an agent does alone, proposes and asks.
- Systems thinking: has contributed to or built a design system that engineers use without being told.
- Deep fluency in interaction design, copy and visual design for dense, technical tools.
- Comfort working with several product teams at once and speaking up when work is not good enough.
- Curiosity about customers with high expectations and low tolerance for friction.
Nice to have
- Workflow-heavy, data-dense or technically complex B2B products.
- Marketplace, catalogue, e-commerce or supply chain domains; automotive is a bonus.
- High-growth startup and scale-up environments.
- Global, distributed design teams.
What we offer
- Healthy catered lunches in the offices.
- $1,500 annual wellness allowance per team member.
- 3 months of fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers.
- Paid 24/7 car park or commute allowance.
- Office-first but flexible schedule.
- Weekly happy hours, monthly lunches, quarterly Season Openers and an annual global offsite.
