About the role
Datacom is hiring a Senior Consultant for its Data and Analytics team, based onsite in Wellington. The consultant leads the technical delivery of large-scale data platform and BI solutions, designing, implementing and owning them while working closely with client stakeholders, Principal Consultants, Practice Leads and Project Managers. It is a client-facing role requiring strong communication and presentation skills.
Key responsibilities
- Work with business users to identify consulting opportunities and elicit requirements through workshops
- Contribute to the technical architecture, design and delivery of modern data and insight platforms
- Provide thought leadership on data management and integration recommendations
- Design relational and dimensional data models across domains and industries
- Design and deploy AI solutions for data migration, modelling, application modernisation and data warehouse migrations
- Tune and optimise performance of data platforms and insight solutions
- Manage development lifecycles with source code management tools and AI modernisation products
- Build custom self-service solutions in Power BI and provide technical documentation, training and knowledge transfer
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- NZ citizens only; security clearances are desirable
- Proven track record designing and building modern data platforms, including enterprise data warehouse migration
- Minimum 7 years' experience in EDW design and implementation, ETL architecting and data modelling (star and Snowflake schemas)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in semantic layer development and Power BI

- Snowflake (dataflows, pipelines, Cortex/Coco) or Databricks (lakehouse flows, Autoloader)
- dbt, Azure/Fabric Data Factory, Coalesce, Fivetran or Matillion
- Python, Azure and AWS
- Fabric, Snowflake, Power BI, Power Query, SQL and DAX
- DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, Git and deployment automation
