Principal Software Engineer

About the role

Arlo is looking for a strategic, hands‑on Principal Software Engineer to drive technical outcomes, mentor the engineering team and manage a Staff Engineer. You will work closely with the CTO and Founding Chief Technologist to shape the company’s SaaS platform and ensure it scales globally.

Key responsibilities

• Architectural leadership: define scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across frontend, backend and cloud.
• Hands‑on development & research: write code, build prototypes and leverage AI tools to innovate.
• Mentorship & quality: set coding and architectural standards, guide engineers and foster a collaborative culture.
• People management: coach a direct‑report, set goals and support career development.
• Strategic alignment: ensure designs match the organization’s technology vision and business goals.

Required profile

• 8+ years designing, building and managing complex SaaS solutions, preferably in high‑growth environments.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset with end‑to‑end ownership.
• Values clarity, grit, ownership and curiosity; enjoys simplifying complex challenges.
