Software Engineer

About the role

Software Engineer at Kami, a digital classroom platform used by over 70 million users worldwide. The position is based in Auckland with a hybrid schedule – office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, remote on Tuesday and Thursday.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy new features that improve user experience and support product goals.
• Maintain and enhance existing functionality to ensure performance, scalability and reliability.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to translate ideas and user feedback into technical solutions.
• Contribute to both frontend and backend code bases, ensuring stability and security.
• Investigate bugs, implement reliable fixes and improve long‑term code health.

Required profile

• 2 + years of experience in a software engineering role.
• Strong proficiency in modern programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python and Go.
• Experience with web technologies and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with scalable backend systems and API development.
• Comfortable working in agile workflows and debugging complex systems.
